About this fundraiser

Winter is coming and I need a place
Since 1988 I haven’t been unemployed for more than two weeks at a time. I lived on the knife’s edge for years and fell off.

During much of that time, I also took care of my mother. Sometimes you just do what is right because. I stood by her and a friend when they were in need. I now find myself in need of assistance.

I am currently homeless. I had nine days to find a place or storage unit, hire a mover - not enough time. I ended up in the ER due in part to stress.

I am homeless because of a slumlord. I sleep in a shelter where drug addicts seem to be trying to come off of their high. We are kicked outside for six hours a day, rain or shine, warm or cold - it does not matter. Sleep is difficult when there are screams and yelling in the night. Police and paramedics come at least once a night.

My valiant Dodge Caravan died a year ago and I haven’t been able to replace it, which makes the job hunt more difficult.

There are normal folks here in the shelter, not just the addicts and unstable.

I need to raise rent and a deposit for a decent apartment - nothing fancy - just something to keep the Canadian winter outside. As you probably know, the temperature can drop to -35C (which is damn cold). Winter here generally starts October 31 and I am 63 years old, so I am sure you can understand how at least six hours a day on the streets in such cold weather could be life threatening.

I don’t do drugs, drink or smoke.

I need some help to pay rent and the deposit so I can get the bleep out of here.

Funds will go to rent, deposit and utilities - possibly for two months.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Assistance will be life changing.

Thank you for reading.
