Hi. Thank you for taking the time to read this story about my dad, Ruben. Dad was diagnosed with rectum cancer on May 7th. Our family was devastated when we received the news that Dad has Stage 4 rectum cancer. Dad has always taken care of us and now it's our turn to take care of him. Dad started chemotherapy in June and just in 2 months this aggressive disease has taken a toll on his body. This disease made it impossible for him to work, he couldn't eat or drink (he lost weight and at one time he weighed 118), he'd stay in bed all day sleeping, and was shutting down before our eyes. It's been heartbreaking to watch the man we know and love lose his energy, but his spirit remains unbroken. Dad started immunotherapy October 15th. He is fighting to be here longer with his family. The financial burden from this disease is overwhelming. While insurance has helped it doesn't cover everything. We are raising funds to help cover medical expenses: doctor visits, lab work, ct scans, immunotherapy treatments, and prescriptions.
