In early 2021, our lovely CHERYSH was diagnosed with a rare disease called Short Telomere Biology Syndrome, which occurs in very few children. This disease causes dangerous gene mutations that can lead to cancer and organ complications.
Doctors also discovered two gene mutations, one of which had never been seen before.
Because this disease is so rare, there is currently no cure. It affects the lungs, liver, and bone marrow. CHERYSH is currently in bone marrow failure and will undergo a stem cell transplant. On October 3rd, she will begin intensive chemotherapy, followed by the transplant, and will need to stay in the hospital for approximately six weeks or longer.
CHERYSH's youngest sister, Aubrey, is also preparing to donate bone marrow and is a close match for CHERYSH. We are incredibly proud of her courageous and loving decision to take this step. Her selfless act has given CHERYSH the opportunity to improve her quality of life and has also shown us all the immense power of family and love. Thank you, God, for this good news and for guiding us through this journey.
Despite this challenging journey, CHERYSH's faith is stronger than ever. She relies on the Lord for strength and peace, and her testimony has touched us all. As 2 Corinthians 12:9 reminds us, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." We cling to God's promises, trusting that He will see CHERYSH through this difficult time.
We continue to pray for healing and strength, and we humbly ask God to help her with the many expenses that insurance won't cover—hospitalization, specialized tests, chemotherapy, medications, and the loss of income as she navigates this difficult time.
If you are able to donate, we would be grateful. If you are unable to, we ask that you share this page and continue to pray. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts and trust that God will provide for us through the love and generosity of His people.
With faith and gratitude,
