I went in for scans the week of thanksgiving and the day before my favorite holiday (11/ 26/ 2025) I was told that I had invasive ductal carcinoma. They couldn't stage it at the time but knew it was as least stage 3 by the location, size, and spread. It would be weeks before I knew if I was stage 3 or stage 4. It's be a whirlwind of thoughts and emotions. No day is like the next. I never know how I'm going to feel from one day to the next because of all the treatment and medication I have to take daily now. Some days just being able to keep water down is a win. And to make matters worse there's a specific medication that I need but my insurance has denied coverage. I am appealing the denial (once again) but don't have time to wait because I need this medication in combination with chemo if I have any hope of shrinking the tumors. I have to take this medication daily, which means I have to pay for it monthly until further notice.
I received a grant but it only covers half which means I am responsible for the other half each month which is five figures, FIVE! I don't know what's more shocking how much it costs or the fact that insurance can just deny whatever they don't want to pay. This is where you all come in. I'm not trying to go into debt or ruin my credit just to be able to pay for medication. This cancer has already taken my present I won't let it take my future. I need this medication though, so I'm asking for your help. Anything you give will go towards my out-of-pocket costs.
Thank you in advance for your grace & kindness. 🩷
