Hello my name is a Krystalyn Rivera I’m a full time  Aquatics director for the YMCA of Detroit. I am a single parent to one daughter who’s entering high school and two rescue cats. our story stems from growing our family with Chloe who we rescued from a shelter in 2018 and then later is 2020 Zen was rescued as he ran up to my door step and chose us to be his forever home. We use to be in a better place financially but went through a domestic abusive relationship that once covered of my finances at the expense of my mental health. When I got the courage to leave I took my child and fur babies to move in with grandma. It was huge ask of grams since she was not a pet person. Finally saved up enough to get my own space that we share as a studio apartment living space like we live NY in Detroit Michigan. Since the past year my rent went up but I did not receive a raise. On top of that I had a hardship fall on me medically and financially when I got an absence infection in my mouth earlier in the year. My cats mean the world to me and have truly been my comfort and best companions during the hardest of times And with daily living. More recently we have been really going through it together struggling and trying to figure out new sources of income to help me keep me family together. Since rent has gone up along with unexpected medical bills and loans taken out to fix the car and tryin to survive the daily demands. I find myself struggling to keep up with litter and food, and often find myself worried I might need to rehome my loves. 3k would help me cover a little over a years worth of supplies needed to keep them fed and with litter. They’re up to date with shots and are on mostly a wet food diet. I spend $160 monthly. I pray if you’re reading you can find it in your heart and means to help our cause to keep our family together.
