Asking for help has always been one of the hardest things for me to do. I have always been the type of person to push through, to handle my responsibilities, and to keep my struggles quiet. But life has a way of humbling us when we least expect it, and right now, I have reached a place where I simply cannot do it alone.
A few weeks ago, I got very sick—to the point where I genuinely thought I might not make it. Just as I was trying to recover and piece my life back together, my body failed me. I found myself fighting to heal again.
The hardest part isn’t just the physical toll or the fear that comes with a sudden hospitalization; it’s the quiet panic that sets in when you look at the real-world consequences of being unable to work. While I was fighting for my health, the bills didn't stop. The rent was due, the utilities needed paying, and the gap in my income turned into a chasm.
Right now, I am over a thousand dollars short on what I need just to stay afloat.
The stress of this financial mountain is heavy, and the doctors have made it clear that stress is the absolute last thing I need right now. I am trying so hard to rest, to focus on recovery, and to let my body heal, but it is nearly impossible to sleep when you are worried about keeping a roof over your head and surviving the fallout of a medical crisis.
I wouldn't be typing this if I had any other choice. I truly don't. I hate asking for assistance, and it makes me feel so vulnerable. But desperation has a way of stripping away pride.
If you are in a position to offer any kind of help—even if it is just a few dollars, or even just sharing this message—I would appreciate it more than words can ever express. Every little bit truly does help bridge this terrifying gap.
