  • Home and Recovering

Joe and Holly were finally able to travel back home to Farmington, NM last week. He had one final appointment with his doctor in Denver before they traveled home. His doctor confirmed that the cancer had not spread throughout his body and was contained to the tumor. The doctor was confident that they removed the full tumor and we can say he is officially Cancer Free!

Joe will continue with his recovery and healing for the next 5 weeks at minimum. During this time he is still on lifting and working restrictions as his body heals from the surgery. With his new Diabetes diagnoses he is continuing to monitor his sugar levels everyday and learn how to take care of his body in a new way. This will definitely be a season of healing and recuperating for Joe.

Thank you to their dear friends in Colorado who offered up their homes as a respite during his post surgery healing. Thank you to all of the family and friends for visiting with them during their stay in Colorado. Being surrounded by loved ones helped in the healing process. I hope the phrase "thank you" does not lose it's power and meaning as we continue to say it, because we truly mean every thank you with all of the love and gratefulness in our hearts, and I know that Joe and Holly do as well.

Thank you for sharing their story and being a part of the family, friends, and community that love our parents. It has been a humbling and awe inspiring thing to witness their family, friends and community of loved ones show up and support them during this season. Throughout my life I have watched my Dad and Holly never hesitate to help other human beings. It never mattered if it was a person they knew or not; Although let's be honest, they both quickly turn a stranger into a friend and someone they care about.

Please continue to pray for Joe and Holly during this time. Pray for patience through the slow healing process and guidance on the new steps to take with his Diabetes. Please continue to share their story and give a hand if you are able. If anyone in the area is able to visit here and there, or bring a meal to them to bring them comfort, please reach out to Holly and schedule a time that would work for them.

Please consider giving to help alleviate the cost of daily life and burden of medical expenses for Joe Sanchez and his wife Holly Adair-Sanchez. If you are unable to give, please join us in prayer for healing and recovery. We ask that you read their story and share the link.

Joe has been experiencing severe back pain for several months. On December 3, 2025, Holly took him to the emergency room, thinking he was having a possible heart attack. After an 8 hour long emergency room visit, numerous tests and scans confirmed that he has a mass on his right kidney. The mass has been causing intense pain and exhaustion, all while Joe has also been battling extreme high blood pressure, and poor immunity, which has forced him to be out of work for months.

Joe owns and operates his own handyman and building business, Joe of All Trades, in Farmington, NM and surrounding areas. Due to his current medical status he has been unable to work and provide for himself and his wife. Holly has been continuing to work as she can, but has been needed at home to help take care of Joe as much as possible, and take him to appointments.

After weeks of seeing specialists and doctors, Joe has been diagnosed with Renal Cell Carcinoma. He is currently waiting to have surgery, which is scheduled for the end of April to have his right kidney removed. This surgery will take place in Denver, CO, so that Joe and Holly can be closer to family and support. He will be in the hospital for 3 to 4 days after the surgery and then need to remain in the Denver area for at least 10 more days until results have come back to determine the next steps of treatment.

Joe and Holly have always been an example of the phrase, “If you see someone in need, and you can help, then help.” Every community they are a part of instantly feels and witnesses their gracious hearts and kindness towards others. They were an integral part of the multiple benefits and programs that were run through The New Plantation, formally in Evans, CO. They helped with planning and organizing Poker Runs, Chili Cook-off's that benefited those in need, and Christmas Toy Runs.

In their current community in Farmington, NM, they have been involved in The San Juan Winery Christmas appreciation weekend. Volunteering through Joe's previous job at Waste Management to educate the community and children about recycling. They are constantly cooking for benefits, or donating their time to help others. Joe and Holly are always willing to help random strangers who are in need of anything from gas money, to helping the homeless with food and prayers. They are consistently willing to trade work for those in need who do not have the monetary funds to pay for work, anything from renovations to vehicle maintenance.

I am writing this as Joe and Holly's daughter, Amanda. I have done my best to stay objective and tell you about how caring and loving my Dad and Mum are. They see every person as a human being who deserves to be cared for and loved. Now, they need to be cared for during this season of struggle in their lives. I could share numerous stories of times in my life where my Dad has been an unconditional example of loving your neighbor. Now is the time for those neighbors to show him love. There is not a member in their community and circle who has not been impacted by their kindness, cooked a delicious meal by them, given a safe and warm place to stay, or been given a handcrafted, or crocheted item from them.

Please consider giving any amount you can to help us reach our goal so that we may ease the financial weight on Joe and Holly during this time. The money from this fundraiser will be used for household expenses while Joe is out of work and to aid in medical costs as needed.

We thank you with all of our hearts for doing what you can to help our Dad and Mum.

Above all, thank you for being the community that cares for our parents. Please keep Joe in your prayers and consider donating to his fundraiser.
