I’m 45 years old, I live with my wife, my 18 year old daughter, my Mother in law, my sister in law and her two children.
We all work for my Mother in laws company where I’ve been for nearly 16 years! We have a pretty good life regarding being able to afford the odd holiday etc. I have quite the medical history and a rough road ahead which is the reason for my cap in hand.

I am partially sighted due to a tumour on my optic nerve as a child, the radiotherapy then seemingly damaged my pituitary gland which has left my body unable to create the levels of hormones that others can so I take around 12 different tablets a day. I have sleep apnoea where my airways close up in my sleep if I don’t use a CPAP machine every night. I was told a few years ago that I have a condition called Alpha-1-antitrypsin but wasn’t really told how it may affect me further down the line. I attended the Emergency department a month ago with severe abdominal pain, assuming gallstones was the cause but they discovered that my liver and spleen are enlarged and that I have fibrosis of the liver.

My reason for fundraising is so that my family is not left destitute should my near future be as bleak as I expect it to be. The aim is to cover the majority of our mortgage so that my wife has the capacity to heal and maintain the life our, not so little, unit has so far.

My wife is my world and although I know she has the strength to move forward in my absence, I need her to know that she has a safe and secure future to focus on the remaining family needs. He sister has a chromosome disorder, as does her daughter and with her Mum fast approaching retirement age I can only feel settled if I know she is supported in the only way I have left.

For context- I have not been told I am untreatable or that my prognosis is short up to now but I worry that is not far away.

Please help a family man leave his family with some level of stability in his absence.
