On August 8, 2026, I lost the love of my life, Jimmy, after a three-year battle with cancer.
There are no words that can truly describe what the last three years have been like. Jimmy fought cancer with incredible strength and courage. Along the way, he endured 13 weeks of chemotherapy and radiation, two hospitalizations for pneumonia, and shingles in his ear that resulted in Ramsay Hunt syndrome. Because of the complications from his illness, he eventually lost the ability to swallow and needed a G-tube for nutrition.
Jimmy lived with extreme pain every day. Despite everything his body was going through, he kept fighting. During the last few months of his life, hospice came into our home to help keep him comfortable and allow us to spend those precious final days together.
Jimmy was also the sole wage earner for our household.
Now that he is gone, I am facing not only the heartbreak of losing my partner, but also the frightening reality of having to rebuild my life financially from the ground up. I am actively looking for employment, but finding work takes time, and right now I am struggling to keep up with the expenses that come with losing the person who supported our household.
I am humbly asking for help.
Any money raised will help me get through this transition while I search for employment and work toward becoming financially independent again. It will help with basic living expenses, household bills, funeral and memorial-related costs, and the many unexpected expenses that come with such a devastating loss.
Asking for help is not easy for me. I wish I could say that I have everything figured out, but I don't. I am grieving, trying to take care of everything that needs to be done, and at the same time trying to figure out what my life looks like without Jimmy.
If you knew Jimmy, you knew how hard he fought. He fought for three years, through pain, hospital stays, treatments, complications, and setbacks. He never gave up.
Now I need a little help finding my footing and moving forward.
If you are able to contribute, no matter how much, I will be deeply grateful. If you aren't able to donate, sharing this fundraiser with your friends, family, and community would mean just as much.
Thank you for taking the time to read Jimmy's story, for remembering him, and for helping me through one of the most difficult times of my life.
With gratitude and love,
Lezli
