I adopted Macie in September of 2024 from the shelter. She has blessed our home in more ways than I can imagine. Despite having a rough start at life, she has had so many memorable experiences with us and has been the best addition to our family. A week ago we started to notice changes in our energetic girl. She loves walks, being outside, and socializing with all of her neighborhood friends. After symptoms of lethargy and not wanting to eat or drink, we took her for a second opinion. Bloodwork reflects that her kidneys are in decline. After a $600 bill we were referred to an emergency hospital. Her kidney function status is causing her to need 24 hour hospitalization and fluids. Further diagnostics are to assess her kidneys. One being an ultrasound of her kidneys, and testing for a bacteria that can also affect the kidneys called Lepto. Her first estimate came to $3100 and after discussing fees I'm only able to pay 2206 through care credit. This is just the beginning, and depending on how her lepto screening turns out, it doesn't fully address her kidney values. I'm completely heartbroken. I'm in disbelief that my beautiful girl is so sick. I'm limited in what I can afford, and am doing everything physically possible to give her the best quality of life. Any help and prayers are very appreciated. Please help our special girl.
