  • News from the neuro

The healing process has been going well. I’m still getting in twice-weekly physical therapy. The neurosurgeon checked everything out, and I’m scheduled to see them again in 10 weeks. If everything continues to look good, we’ll plan to remove the hardware in December. I’ve been walking without a walker, though I’m still using a cane. Standing is a bit tough because the muscles in my legs are still quite weak. I really appreciate everyone who’s been reaching out and sharing my story. I’m still trying to make sense of how it happened—just a freak accident. I truly believe that everything happens for a reason, even if I don’t fully understand this one yet. It has definitely taught me to be patient. I’d say this healing journey has been one of the most challenging mentally, on top of the outright physical pain. I won’t complain here because it won’t change anything, but it’s definitely its own kind of monster.

if you know me I’m a private person and don’t really like to talk about personal issues, but I’ve came to a point I have no other options. I’m currently in IHC in St George in the Neuro-rehab unit. Saturday June 27th I suffered a fall in panquitch that caused a burst fracture in my lower vertebrae which also punctured my spinal cord. Since then I’ve been transported from panguitch to St. George by ambulance, undergone a lasectomy and have 6 screws in my spine. I’m asking for help from family and friends as I don’t have insurance and the medical bills are piling up. One fall took me from being able to provide for myself and my family to having to relent to walk and use the bathroom on my own. There’s probably some people that will be upset I didnt reach out, all I can say is I’m truly sorry this is breaking me down physically and mentally and has been a fight minute to minute. I’m now struggling on how to support my family, as faith has been here everyday as my full time caregiver. We have a long road ahead of us with no current release date.
