Dear Friends,

My name is Yaya Inyang. Unfortunately, the past two years have been extremely difficult, and I have experienced many challenges that I never expected to face.

After working in banking for 29 years, I lost my job. Soon afterward, I was diagnosed with kidney cancer. I eventually had surgery and lost one of my kidneys. I am now 63 years old and will turn 64 in April. By God's mercy, I am still here and doing my best to keep moving forward.

My medical expenses have been overwhelming. My insurance did not cover many of the costs associated with my treatment, and after several months, I lost my insurance because I could no longer afford the premiums and other bills. I am currently without health insurance and continue to struggle to find coverage that I can afford.

I am working and am also retired, using my income to supplement my Social Security, but even with that, it is very difficult to keep up with everything. I have medical bills and other expenses that have caused me a tremendous amount of stress. I eventually had to file Chapter 13 bankruptcy simply so I could try to survive financially and keep going.

I live in an RV, and I still have to pay for my lot, electricity, water, food, transportation, and other basic necessities. I also have monthly medications that I need, and they are not inexpensive. In addition to having lost a kidney to cancer, I also live with thyroid disease and diabetes.

I tried applying for Medicaid, but I was told that I make too much money to qualify. Honestly, that has been very difficult for me to understand because, after paying my necessary expenses, I barely have enough to make ends meet.

I have never asked for this kind of help before, but I have reached a point where I feel I need to ask. If I could receive some assistance with my medical expenses and other bills, it would relieve some of the financial stress I have been carrying and help me get back on more stable ground.

I am not asking for anything extravagant. I am simply asking for a little help during a very difficult period of my life.
