I’ve taken care of my mom for the last 6-8 years due to many health issues she had. I became her legal caregiver in November 2023, and she lived with me and my husband for about two and a half years until she snapped her ankle and had to stay in a rehab center. She was there since September 2025 and was supposed to come home in February 2026, but she had to have emergency gallbladder removal surgery. The surgery was performed by a robot supervised by a human, and it was botched—multiple medical professionals told me this. My mom had to undergo 8-10 other procedures at three different hospitals, including the hospital that performed the initial surgery, to try and correct what was done. At the last hospital she was in before she was discharged back to the rehab center, she had internal bleeding. They performed a dye test and said her body had basically healed itself and she didn’t have any more bleeding. They felt she was good to be discharged back to the rehab center. Four to five days after she was sent back, I got a phone call from the rehab center telling me she was unresponsive and they were doing compressions on her. I was told to go to the hospital as EMS was bringing my mom there. My husband got home from work about 10-15 minutes later, and before we could go to the hospital, I got a phone call that said my mom had passed away. At the hospital, I was told that EMS was still doing compressions when she arrived and they tried to put an ET down her airway so she could breathe, but there was so much blood that she had clots and there was nothing else they could do. Unfortunately, we had not gotten around to getting her a life insurance plan or a will, and now I have no way to pay for her funeral. She deserves to have one, having spent almost the last year of her life in a rehab center and different hospitals. I love and miss my mom with all my heart, and any support I can get would be greatly appreciated so I can send her off the way she deserves.
