I'm 79 years old and living on Social Security in Waterbury, Connecticut. My home has been my sanctuary for so many years, but right now I'm facing a crisis I never expected to handle alone.
My basement flooded and now it's leaking constantly. Everything I've stored down there over the years is ruined. Without an attic, my basement was the only place I had to keep my belongings, and now I've lost so much. Photographs, memories, items I've held onto through different seasons of my life.
I got an estimate from American Dry Basement, and they say it will cost $16,000 to fix the leak and waterproof the foundation properly. They guarantee their work, which gives me some peace of mind, but that's money I simply don't have. My Social Security check covers my basic needs, but there's nothing left over for an emergency like this.
I'm reaching out because I need help. Without fixing this basement, my home will continue to deteriorate, and I'll lose even more. I'm not someone who asks for help easily, but I'm asking now. If you're able to contribute anything toward this repair, it would mean the world to me and help me keep my home safe and dry.
Thank you for considering my situation.
