False police reports, Trumped up charges, police misconduct, and a $20,000 Bill is all I have to show for my freedom. I am a disabled USMC veteran, a father, and husband who was attacked and brutalized by the far right and the local officials who take their money.

My name is Brett Tuthill and in June 14 2025 my life changed forever. First I was silenced for expressing my 1st amendment, then I had to protect my 4th, but now I must continue protecting my freedom.

I was on my way home, passing by a group of far right Christian nationalist/Fascist. They were armed, in the street, and already aggressive and agitated. They are known in this town for radical, racist, and politically charged tantrums. A man named Fred Hernandez charged into the road, stopped my vehicle, and swung my door open. I presented my firearm in order to deter any further violation of my 4th amendment. He retreated and I quickly fled from his actions but the damage was done. Before I could even begin processing the fear and anxiety caused by Mr. Hernandez; I was pulled over by 5 patrol cars and arrested at gunpoint by 8 deputies. 

While they were busy cooking up charges I slipped and fell while in custody. I was left with no shoes in a concrete room. This coupled with my chronic back pain, spelled disaster. After suffering a concussion in police custody, and 48 hours in custody without ever being charged, they finally got around to it. 4 felony menacing with a firearm, and 10 misdemeanor disorderly conduct. On a warrantless arrest none the less. For 10 months I have fought these charges at great expense to my family and myself. I am a disabled veteran, with a beautiful wife and two amazing daughters. I never thought I would be in this position but life tends to through curve balls.

After a long hard road and months of cover-up and police misconduct, the charges have been dismissed. I was forced to plead guilty to a petty offense of Disruption, simply to avoid further attorney fees for a trial. 

Enough is enough. The actions of a few should not be able to dictate the freedoms of all. How long should we allow the Constitution to be trampled on by a terroristic agenda?
