Help Nick and Michael Find a Safe Place to Call Home

Nick is 34 years old and a hardworking father who works full-time at Bowden Painting. His 5-year-old son, Michael, is autistic and non-verbal, and depends on his dad for his daily care and support.

In March 2026, their lives were changed forever when Michael’s mother unexpectedly passed away from heart complications. Since her passing, Nick has been navigating the overwhelming responsibility of raising Michael as a single father while continuing to work and provide for his son.

Nick has also worked incredibly hard to turn his life around. After struggling with addiction, he has now been sober for 4 years as of August 1, 2026. He has fought hard for his recovery and is committed to being the best father he can be for Michael. 
 

Nick has found a place where he and Michael can live safely and have a fresh start, but the upfront costs—including the first month's rent and other move-in expenses—total approximately $3,100. He will also need to add privacy fencing around the back yard as Michael is an eloper. it Is imperative to have this extra measure of safety for him.

There is another significant obstacle. Nick lost his driver's license before becoming sober and currently cannot have it reinstated until he is able to pay approximately $12,000 in legal fees. Having his license back would make an enormous difference for Nick and Michael, especially when it comes to getting to work, appointments, school, and meeting Michael's needs.

Nick isn't asking for help because he doesn't want to work. In fact, he isn’t asking for help at all. But as his family, we are trying to help lessen the burden. We are the ones asking for help on his behalf, as he is simply facing more than one person should have to carry alone.

Any donation, no matter how small, can make a difference. Our immediate goal is to help Nick and Michael secure their new home. Any additional support can help Nick work toward resolving his legal fees and rebuilding a stable future for his son.
