À propos de cette collecte de fonds

I am reaching out with a specific request for help for an 18-year-old high-school student who has experienced homelessness.

She is currently safe and living in my home. I have been able to provide her with a place to stay, but I want to help her take the next step toward independence while she finishes high school. She is expected to graduate in May 2027.

I own property where, subject to local zoning and permitting requirements, she could have a small independent living space of her own while still having a safe and supportive adult nearby.

We are looking for help with any of the following:

• A donated or deeply discounted travel trailer/camper
• An older or damaged camper that could be repaired
• A tiny home or small manufactured home
• Building materials to construct a small permitted dwelling
• Appliances, windows, doors, plumbing, electrical supplies, flooring, insulation, cabinetry, or other materials
• Skilled tradespeople willing to donate labor
• Transportation or delivery of a donated camper or materials
• Financial assistance toward the project
• Connections to builders, RV dealers, contractors, churches, foundations, or private donors who might be willing to help

We are willing to consider a camper that needs work or a tiny-home project that needs to be completed. If materials are donated, we are prepared to put those materials to use in repairing or building the living space, with qualified professionals handling work that requires licensed trades or permits.

The goal is not simply to provide temporary shelter. We want to give this young woman a safe, private place where she can learn to live independently, remain focused on school, graduate in May 2027, and transition into adulthood with a stable foundation.

I am not asking someone to provide an entire housing situation from scratch. The property and a safe, supportive adult environment are already available. We are looking for the missing piece: a small dwelling or the materials and assistance needed to create one.

I am also willing to work with an established nonprofit, church, or community organization if that would make a donation or grant possible.

If your organization cannot help directly, I would be extremely grateful if you would forward this request to someone who might be able to help.

Even a donation of leftover building materials, a used appliance, a camper that needs repair, or an introduction to the right person could make a meaningful difference.

Even a small monetary donation would help make the repairs less of a burden.

I would be happy to provide additional information about the project, the property, and the proposed living arrangement. Any dwelling would be subject to applicable county zoning, permitting, utility, and safety requirements.

Thank you very much for considering this request.

Sincerely,

Alta Dixon, 352-339-4790, [email protected]
