A Fresh Start for My Son and I

My three-year-old son and I are starting over and beginning a new chapter of our lives. I’m leaving a toxic and abusive relationship because I want to give my son a better life, a safe home, and a healthy environment where we can both heal, grow, and feel secure. This decision has not been easy, but I know that creating a safe and stable future for my son is worth everything.

For the last several years, I have been a stay-at-home mom and relied solely on my former partner financially. Because of that, I am now starting from the ground up. We left quickly and unexpectedly. I currently have no job, no income, no car, and very limited resources. I am actively looking for work and doing everything I can to become independent and establish a stable life for us.

Right now, my son and I are in a temporary safe housing arrangement, but we will not be able to stay there for long. The funds raised will help us take the next steps toward independence, including securing reliable transportation and getting established in a safe apartment of our own as well as counseling for him and I. Having a car would allow me to get to work, attend interviews, take my son to school and appointments, and begin rebuilding our lives. Having a safe and stable place to call home would mean everything to us.

I honestly didn’t know where to begin, and asking for help is difficult for me. But right now, I am choosing to put my pride aside and ask for a little support while I work toward standing on my own again. Any financial help, no matter the amount, would make an enormous difference for my son and I. These funds would give us the time and opportunity to get established, find employment, secure housing, and build a foundation for a safer and more independent future.

We need this support as soon as possible because our current housing is temporary. Every contribution brings us one step closer to having a place of our own and the stability we desperately need during this transition.
