I never imagined I would be writing something like this or asking people for help, but right now I’m putting my pride aside because my family needs me to.

I’m a wife and a mom, and right now I’m facing the possibility of losing our home because I’m $700 behind on our rent. My landlord has given me until Tuesday/Wednesday morning to come up with the full $700, or they will begin the eviction process.

I’m not asking because I don’t want to work. I’m asking because I’m already doing everything I can.

I’ve started driving for Uber and delivering with Uber Eats, and I’m going to be working as much as I possibly can over the next few days to try to raise the money myself. But starting from $0 with such a short deadline makes coming up with $700 extremely difficult.

The hardest part of this is knowing that my child could be affected by something that I’m desperately trying to fix.

I work. I try to take care of my family. I try to handle our responsibilities, and I never thought I’d find myself having to ask strangers, friends, or family for help just to keep a roof over our heads.

I’m asking for $1,200. The first $700 will go toward the rent I’m currently behind on and need to pay immediately to prevent the eviction process from moving forward. The remaining $500 will go toward this month’s rent so that I can get caught up and have a little breathing room instead of immediately falling behind again.

I’m not asking for a handout. I’m asking for a hand up while I work to get my family through an emergency.

If you can donate $5, $10, $20, or whatever you’re comfortable giving, please know that it isn’t “just” $5 or $10 to me. Every dollar gets me closer to being able to tell my landlord that the rent is paid and my family is safe in our home.

I am embarrassed that I have to ask. I’m scared of what could happen if I can’t get this money together. But most importantly, I’m determined to do whatever I can to protect my family.
