Pride doesn't pay the bills, and taking care of myself comes first. Reaching out for help isn't easy, but navigating state support feels like trying to read a Whirlpool wiring manual in Chinese!
I’m deeply grateful for friends who’ve let me stay with them, but bouncing around strains those relationships. After experiencing identity fraud, not having an address or ID makes getting a job nearly impossible. I chose Lendahand to cut through the red tape, replace my documents, and get the stable foundation I need to land employment.

I have Reaching out for support comes after exhausting every other avenue. I have been on state housing waitlists for over three years. Despite recent state funding increases, applications are moving slowly—organizations are currently processing candidates from 6+ years ago, prioritizing older individuals and those with immediate medical crises.
Right now, I am staying in an encampment near food resources. While it offers basic shelter, putting lipstick on a pig doesn't change what it is—it is not a stable or secure environment. To make matters harder, recent cuts to my state benefits removed me from the Lifeline phone program until I can verify employment, leaving me reachable only by email or chat (though I am happy to answer any questions or concerns you have through those channels!).
The hurdle is a classic Catch-22: I can't get a job without a photo ID and a verified lease/address, but I can't secure housing without income. Being able to secure independent housing with a small financial foundation allows me to bypass the 2–3 year wait for a housing voucher and immediately access continued care resources that will help keep me housed long-term.
I promise to keep supporters updated on where and when funds are used through updates here on the page or via email/chat.
