I am creating this fundraiser for my older sister Terry. She is in need of 2 knee replacements. She has worked as a nurse for the last 35 plus years at several different institutions in upstate NY. Just recently in November 2024, Terry was laid off of her job with no explanation and at the same time lost her best sister friend to cancer. She has been a rock for so many people over the decades and a pillar in her community.

Terry is someone who will share whatever she has with you, even if that meant she would go without. she is ALWAYS putting others needs before her own it ended up taking a toll on her health and she ignored her own physical needs to regularly care for others both home and at work.

 Since she lost her job, she no longer has insurance and is physically unable to continue working in the capacity she was with the strenuous physical demands of the job. If  she is unable to work, she does not qualify for unemployment if she is not actively looking for a job.

 She is in need of 2 complete in patient knee replacements. each surgery is upwards of $35,000.  The amount I am requesting will be used to cover all the cost that insurance will not. for her surgery, it could cost more than $35,000 if she is in need of a specialized surgery and the inpatient stay will be extensive ,in addition - this type of surgery requires weeks maybe months of extensive physical therapy follow up post-op. 

As stated before-she HAS NO INSURANCE PRESENTLY, she is working on that now but even with insurance the out of pocket expenses are estimated conservatively over $50,000. In addition to the medical, $18,000 of the $50,00. is needed to cover 6 months of mortgage payments at $3000.00/month. If insurance kicks in I believe the requested amount won't cover all her costs but it would help her not to stress and worry 24 hours a day wondering how she is going to survive with no job, no savings and no monthly income yet.

She is in need of the surgeries immediately. She is doing everything she can do in her power, like starting a serious weight loss regiment, but that will not repair the damage that has occurred over decades. She has exhausted her savings on mortgage payments over six months and is existing on credit cards now.

 Yes she has applied for assistance but in this new administration everything has changed with how the government dolls out money and for what.

I cannot think of a more deserving person to receive help. She has always been there for me whenever I needed help with anything and everything.

I am not financially stable to help my sister or I would give her the shirt off my back if it could help her. I own no home that I could pull money out of, I own nothing and have no savings myself. I am praying for help from anyone who might be able to bless someone that has a great need.
