About this fundraiser

Coopersville’s community pool is a beloved summer gathering spot for families across the area — a place for kids to splash, cool off, and make memories. But for some families, it remains out of reach, at least a challenge.
Right now, there is no handicap-accessible lift at the Coopersville public pool (Seaville Swim Club). Families with disabled children must physically carry them up and down ladders to get in and out of the water. This is not only difficult and unsafe — it often means many children and adults with mobility challenges simply cannot enjoy the pool at all.
I know this struggle firsthand. I use a wheelchair, and I personally know at least three other individuals in our community who face the same barrier. Every summer, we watch from the sidelines while others swim freely. Simple joys like cooling off on a hot Michigan day or participating in water activities with friends and family are unavailable without help — and that help puts both the person being carried and their loved ones at risk.
A handicap-accessible pool lift would change that. It would allow safe, independent (or assisted) entry and exit from the pool for people with disabilities. One lift could open the water to dozens of families in Coopersville and surrounding areas for years to come.
We will be purchasing the lift from Pools Plus who is graciously giving it to us at their cost. The price for the unit including shipping is $4447.40
100% of the proceeds will go towards the purchase and installation of the lift. Thank you in advance!
