My name is Tommeca Griffin, and I’m reaching out with a heart full of hope and vulnerability. I am a 50-year-old woman, a proud mother of three beautiful children, and a grandmother to four amazing grandkids who bring light to my life. On September 6, 2024, I received life-changing news: I was diagnosed with end-stage renal failure.

Since that day, every moment has been a challenge. I now rely on peritoneal dialysis to survive—connected to a machine for 7 to 8 hours each day through a PD catheter that I carry with me physically and emotionally. It has become a part of my daily life and a constant reminder of the journey I’m on.

Adding to this, my youngest son, who lives with me, is autistic and depends on me for daily care and emotional support. His older brother and sister also step in to help, and my daughter has moved back home to become my full-time caregiver through this process. As a family, we are doing our best to support one another, but the demands—emotionally, physically, and financially—are overwhelming.

To have a fighting chance at receiving a kidney transplant, I must travel to multiple states to get on various transplant lists. This drastically increases the likelihood of finding a match, but it also means travel expenses, hotel stays, appointments, and ongoing medical bills that continue to pile up. We simply cannot do it alone.

This is not an easy letter to write. I’ve always prided myself on being the one who gives, who shows up for my children and those I love. But today, I humbly ask for help. Any donation, no matter how small, will go directly toward travel expenses, medical costs, and the support my family needs as I fight to stay alive—not just for myself, but for those who depend on me every single day.
