My name is Dahir and I have been living in Canada for 32 years. Before coming to Canada, I was married in Somalia and had a beautiful baby boy. My wife tragically passed away and my son was raised by his maternal grandmother in Somalia. He is now 20 years old, and I am seeking support to bring him to Canada.

My son is a Somalian citizen, which creates a complicated case for immigration and settlement due to the Somalian government identifications not being recognized by the Canadian government. I was a Canadian citizen when my son was born, which grants him citizenship as well. However, I need to prove to the Canadian government that he is my son. Because Canada does not accept Somalian birth certificate as official, we need to submit a DNA test instead.

I am seeking financial support to pay for the DNA test, the application to the Canadian government, lawyer fees as applicable, as well as costs to eventually transport my son to Canada. I am on fixed income and am working hard to find employment.
