About this fundraiser

My husband and I need financial help to get a lawyer, for a very complicated legal situation. Your contribution will help our 7 and a half year old daughter come back to the only home she has ever know.

My  husband and I were asked to adopt an unborn baby in 2015. The birth mother called us from an abortion clinic where she had the procedure scheduled to be performed within the hour. I agreed without hesitation. I was at the baby's birth in March 2016. I cut the cord, fed and clothed the newborn, and took custody of my newborn daughter from the moment of birth. We named her Faith and fell in love with her immediately.

Over the past 7 and a half years, Faith has had dance lessons, piano lessons, and swimming lessons. She enjoys co-op classes, running club, soccer, and softball with her homeschool association. She has many friends, and enjoys frequent playdates with her besties. She is rarely seen without a huge smile. This summer she went to camp, learned to ride her bike without training wheels, and how to fly a kite. She participated in a summer reading club at the library, and earned a pass for a day of swimming, as well as a pass for this weekend's Fall Fair. She was eagerly looking forward to the fair!

Faith's adoption is not complete because her birth father indicated he would oppose it, in spite of the fact that he wanted Faith terminated before she was born. On August 26th, Faith's birth parents showed up at our house unannounced, and uninvited, with the intention of taking Faith, supposedly for a visit, to their home 300 miles away. Faith was very scared and was sobbing as her birth father was yelling at my husband and me. Under much duress, we allowed Faith to go in spite of the fact that Faith kept insisting she did not want to go. Her birth parents would not listen. They told her, that she would be back on Wednesday. It is now over a week since Faith left, and we have not had contact with her. I finally connected with the birth father, 9 days after Faith was taken. He stated that he and Faith's birth mother had decided to keep Faith.

We contacted our local police and were advised that unless we have safety concerns, the police are unable to remove a child without a police enforceable court order. The officer who attended their home told us that they need to contact our lawyer, go to court to get an emergency custody order, and then complete her adoption.

The lawyer's fees, the custody order, and adoption proceedings will cost upwards of $25,000. Any donation you can give is appreciated, and will help bring Faith back home where she wants to be, and where she belongs.
