About this fundraiser

Honoring Darlene — and Helping Christopher Through the Hardest Moment of His Life

In early November, Darlene went to the hospital with what she thought was simply back pain. What doctors discovered instead was every family’s worst nightmare: an aggressive cancer that had already spread throughout her body. Within weeks, her condition declined rapidly. On December 1, 2025, surrounded by love, Darlene Cox passed away in hospice care.

Her sudden loss has left her only son, Christopher Bridges, not only grieving the mother who was his whole world, but also facing overwhelming financial burdens he never expected to shoulder alone.

Darlene was 73. She was warm, generous, humble, and fiercely devoted to her family. She loved Alabama football, books, and every dog she ever met. She found joy in simple things and shared that joy freely with everyone lucky enough to know her.

But despite her giving heart, Darlene lived modestly. She did not have life insurance or savings set aside for final expenses. The unexpected nature of her illness—and how quickly it progressed—left no time to prepare.

Now, as Christopher tries to make arrangements to honor his mother’s life, he is balancing grief with the unimaginable stress of what to do next and how to pay for a funeral.

This fundraiser is to help Christopher give his mother the dignity she deserves as he navigates this heartbreaking transition.

Every donation—large or small—lightens the weight he’s carrying. It helps cover costs, allows him to properly lay his mother to rest, and provides a measure of peace when he needs it most.

If you’re able, please consider donating or sharing this fundraiser. Your kindness will directly impact Christopher during the darkest moment of his life—and will honor Darlene’s memory in the most meaningful way: by helping the son she loved above all else.

Thank you for your compassion and support.
