Hi everyone, my name is David Yan. I’m a college junior and I’m asking for help because I made mistakes I can’t undo on my own.

I developed a horrible gambling and sports betting addiction, and before I fully understood what was happening, I had lost my tuition money and then some ($40k+). I’m not here to make excuses and I take full responsibility for the decisions that got me here. But I want to be honest and ask for a second chance. The thrill of winning streaks and the immense amounts I’ve spent chasing losses which begun at only 1000 dollars have gotten me to a situation where I can barely afford food let alone rent and tuition right now. My family is pretty well off but I’m scared to come forward to them about it and tell them that I’ve lost their hard earned money gambling and sports betting. I’ve tried applying for student loans, but with limited credit history, no one will approve me.

The funds raised here will go directly toward my tuition, rent, and getting back on stable ground so that I can finish my degree and build a future my family and I can be proud of. I’ve also started seeking help for the gambling itself — I don’t want to just fix the damage, I want to fix the root cause.
