It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved Aunt, Denise Hemingway.

Denise was a quiet, loving, funny, and incredibly smart woman. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to so many. Her warmth was gentle but powerful — the kind of love you felt without her ever having to say much. She carried herself with strength and grace through every season of life.

After being diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer, Denise fought bravely for many months. Sadly, after being hospitalized, we never had the chance to see her walk back out. She has now gone home to be with her mother, and while we find comfort in that, our hearts are deeply broken.

As if this loss were not heavy enough, Denise’s only son — my oldest cousin — suffered a traumatic brain injury (TBI) in a horrific car accident less than six months before her diagnosis. He is still in need of ongoing medical care and support. As a family, we are doing everything we can to ensure he receives proper care in a facility close to loved ones.

We are currently facing several unexpected financial burdens:

• Funeral and burial expenses for Denise
• Legal and court costs to gain access to her apartment and important documents
• Arranging continued care and placement for her only son
• Additional related expenses during this incredibly difficult time

We are praying for support — whether through donations or simply by sharing this fundraiser. Any amount, no matter how small, will help us honor Denise’s life with the dignity she deserves and ensure her son is cared for properly.
