Devon is a young man, father, son, brother, grandson, and friend. He endured an extremely rocky childhood and he spent the last few years as a teenager in the care of the department of children’s services. Despite the instability, he discovered he was gifted at playing football, but those dreams to came an end when Covid-19 struck. To add to this devastation, he then lost his girlfriend in a car crash, even carrying her casket at her funeral.
All this before his 18th birthday. Life hit him really hard, and he turned to drugs and alcohol, making a series of bad choices and choosing the wrong people to have in his life. A few months after becoming an adult, another friend passed away of an overdose. Then, two years later, Devon becomes a father, and is trying to become a man. He is suddenly accused of the death of his friend, two years prior (the young man that overdosed).
The prosecutor obtains a warrant, and Devon finds himself behind bars for dealing drugs resulting in death. He becomes incarcerated in March 2024. Devon is surprised and struck with an extremely high bond of $15,000 cash. He of course is assigned a public defender. As Devon sits in a jail cell, he’s devastated to hear the charges could be 30-60 years for the death of his friend.
Devon desperately needs to obtain a paid attorney! It took many weeks/days/hours to find help for attorney fees. The ”going rate” was $35k - $50k cash, upfront! We were blessed to get help through legal aid and speak with John Razumich located in Indianapolis, Indiana.  His fee is $20k total, even if it goes to trial, but after $10k down he will take payments. Having a paid attorney means he can have a better chance at a fair trial, and hopefully get his sentencing down from 30-60 years. I am asking for this money so we can pay a deposit towards the attorney fees. We’d of course like to be able to post bond as well, if the bond is reduced.
If blessed with any extra funds, Devon would like to distribute those to the young man’s family suffering in this, due to the unfortunate nature of this situation.
The $10K is needed as soon as possible as he has another court hearing coming very soon.
Anything given means so much to his whole entire family, his daughter, his mother, for himself to be able to experience life and become the man he was meant to become! Sending all love and gratitude to anyone who Is willing to come together to help him with the attorney fees! It means EVERYTHING to him! THANK YOU.
