Hi, my name is Lydia. I’m currently on dialysis after a failed kidney transplant. In the first week of January, I learned my Social Security Disability benefits were cut without warning—the payment I received this month would be my last. I have no savings. I’m asking for $1250 to cover a month’s rent so I can stay housed while working with legal aid to fight this decision and plan my next steps. If you are able to donate—or even share—your support would mean safety, dignity, and the chance to survive this moment. Any amount truly helps. 💛

We Met Our Goal! And What Comes Next.
Wow! I am absolutely overwhelmed, and I want to sincerely thank everyone who has donated, shared, or offered support. Thanks to every single one of you, we hit our initial goal of $1250! Reaching the first goal has lifted a tremendous weight off my shoulders. I am blown away by the generosity and compassion this community has shown me.
Because of your support, I was able to pay my rent for February and even address some of my bills for the month. However, as many of you know, I am working with legal aid to get my social security benefits reinstated, and that process is ongoing. I have decided to keep this fundraiser open because my illness prevents me from working, and I don’t have any indication from the Social Security administration that I will be reinstated by March.
I have set a new stretch goal of $2500. If you are able to continue sharing this page, it would mean the world to me to keep this momentum going.
Thank you for being a part of this journey!
