About this fundraiser

Donna L (Bourne) Armentrout went home on Friday, March 10, 2023 after a long battle with Parkinson’s and a short but furious fight with cancer filled with the will and perseverance to live. Mom went to the hospital in October 2023 with an infection in her foot. She went home after a short hospital stay and returned to the hospital. They deemed she needed to go to a nursing rehab facility. There she became ill with RSV and heart failure and we were  told in ICU she would not make it through the weekend. She was resilient and was transferred to another hospital for additional testing after multiple masses were located. She was told she had advanced stage 4 endometrial uterine cancer that there was nothing they could do for her and recommended hospice care. Mom told the oncology doctor that she was not ready to die. The oncologist agreed to find a rehab facility that would transport her for immunotherapy if she was able to walk. She had her amputation recovered and went to a rehab facility until she returned to the hospital with blood clots all over. There for a month she agreed to go to hospice. Where mom spent her final month. The care at the hospice house was incredible. Mom fought and fought to live at hospice. Five months of medical bills piling up plus funeral expenses mom does not have anything left to leave behind. This is a memorial to help with her expenses and for a nursing/medical scholarship to be awarded in her memory to a student athlete at The University South Dakota as she was an avid fan of the Coyotes and mom loved the nurses who took great care of her at the hospitals and hospice.
