On May 5th, I was arrested and spent 30 days in jail, which has led to a series of unfortunate events for my fiancé and our unborn child. At the time of my arrest, my fiancé was in a vulnerable position, trying to navigate a system she wasn’t familiar with. She was desperately looking for ways to secure my release while we were in the process of preparing for our new family.

The Incident
While I was still in jail, a person claiming to be with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Department contacted my mother, stating they could help with my release for $4,000. My fiancé, feeling overwhelmed and desperate, sent $2,700 in two separate payments through Chime to this individual, thinking it was the right move to get me out. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a scam.

Emotional Toll
The aftermath has been devastating. My fiancé has been left feeling hopeless and lost, grappling with the emotional burden of the situation. She was not only dealing with the stress of my arrest but also the overwhelming pressure of impending parenthood and financial strain.
