About this fundraiser

On Saturday, December 13th, ‘25, Penny was admitted to the veterinarian hospital in North Haven, CT. After a couple days of showing symptoms of loss of appetite, minor bruising, exhaustion, and mobility decline, Alex become worried and brought Penny to her annual veterinarian who referred him to the incredible team at the Central Hospital for Veterinarian Medicine. There Penny was given the diagnosis of Immune-Mediated Thrombocytopenia, ITP, and a platelet count of under 4,000 (whereas normal levels are around 250,000). Over the past week multiple treatment plans have been enacted to bring Penny to a stable and progressive position, therefore she can return home with her dad. The latest, IVIG treatment, has shown positive results, bringing her platelet count to an estimated 28,000. This being very exciting and hopeful news for Alex.

During this time, Penny has stayed in good spirits despite her confusion of being away from her home, her dad, and being unable to physically function the way she has only known, as an energetic, playful and loving puppy. Still shy of only two years old, going to great lengths for reinstating Penny’s almost flawless record of health, has been without question for Alex. As long as she is not suffering, which has been strongly suggested by the staff on her team that she is without any pain, then there is no reason to give up hope. Penny has stayed resilient, as should we for her.

This go-fund me page has been created by myself, Victoria Devin, Alex’s twin sister & Penny’s Aunt. For those of you who have the pleasure of knowing my brother or Alex Devin, or as the River Road mechanic, or the guy you have on speed dial when something goes wrong, or as Penny’s Dad, you know at least 3 things about him; he loves his sweet baby girl, Penny, he’s always ready to help in any way he can & he rarely asks for help for himself without already thinking of a way to repay that favor. Well right now, I am asking for help on his behalf, to help bring his whole world home again. Penny isn’t out of the woods just yet, and she has a long road of recovery ahead of her. Any contribution would be beyond appreciated during this season of giving. Thank you for all taking the time to read and consider helping my family.
