About this fundraiser

Hey friend. If you know me at all, what is the first thing that comes to mind. Well, besides my stunning beauty, long legs and gorgeous hair (smile). In all seriousness, it is probably my music. Well, last fall I was presented with an amazing opportunity to attend the University of Arkansas' Black Sacred Music Master's Program, the first and only of it's kind in the country. The program is designed as a 3-summer, 5-week program. Nervously I applied, was accepted and even received a Fellowship Award to cover my courses. Unfortunately, in March I was let go from my full-time job due to government cutbacks. In addition, although UofA had hoped to have some online classes available, I was informed that I would need to attend in person for all 5-weeks. I have been unable to get unemployment benefits, for some unknown reason and with only my church musician pay and very close family and friends helping, I have been barely getting by. I am still committed to achieving this goal and my plan includes taking the train each weekend and staying in either extended-stay housing or finding a roommate. If I can reach my goal here I believe that I will have enough to eat daily and still pay my bills in Maryland while I am in Arkansas for the 5-weeks of classes. If you have ever been faced with the opportunity to reach a dream that was so close that you could taste it then you know how I am feeling right now and I am believing that for such a time as this, I can reach my goal. Thank you for any help.
