John Thomas Baglioni, Jr. aka Baggy, was born in Somerville, NJ on July 30, 1950 and departed this world on July 11, 2011 at the age of 60. Baggy left behind two beautiful daughters, Shannon and Christine (Chrissy).
We all knew and loved our dear friend “Baggy.” It’s hard to believe that almost fifteen years have passed since we could hear his laugh, see his smile, or hug him and shake his hand. Baggy was a true friend who enjoyed being around his pals, and we all know how much he loved taking old back roads, listening to good music, and cracking open a fresh can of Bud. We all knew where to find him when we needed a good laugh, a smile, or a “hey, could you help me out with something” … his corner chair at Michael’s Inn or twirling around the dance floor with his girls. Sometimes you may have even caught him shooting pool up at HillBilly Hall. If you were lucky enough to catch a canoe heading down the Raritan River or an invite to sit in his deer stand, chances are, it was a good day. In his hay days, you could find him swinging a bat or catching a pop fly out at the 4-H fields with his team, which was sponsored by the old Gino’s Bar. But that’s the point, you always knew where to find him when you needed him.
Baggy was loyal to Michael’s Inn, but often shared his love for bar stool hopping and would visit other local, and by local I mean the next street over, establishments such as DeCiccos, Rick's and Mugs. Fun fact, he helped with all the woodworking inside of the building. Baggy was a Master Carpenter who took pride in his work. He worked many years for Brown Construction and loved to brag to his girls about the different jobs he did. He also loved to talk and brag about his favorite teams, the NY Yankees and the Miami Dolphins. During baseball and football season Baggy could be found in his recliner hoping for a win. But no matter what sport or team you favored, Baggy would always welcome you in and instantly become your best friend.
Despite their many efforts the girls have fallen short financially and are back at square one in affording a proper headstone. They need our help in coming together to give Baggy the headstone he deserves to honor his legacy. The girls are grateful for any support that friends and family can offer in helping to establish a lasting tribute to their dad at his final resting place, where they, his grandchildren, friends and family can stop and share their memories.
