About this fundraiser

Hi,

Allow me to introduce to you, Ms. Terrie Robbins, affectionately referred to as “Bubbie”.  She is a recently retired 63 year old senior whose life-long dream has been to retire and live out her remaining days in a small country cottage deep in some secluded wooded area.

After entering the workforce at the tender age of 13 working as a clerk in the Register of Wills Office in the Circuit Court in Upper Marlboro, MD, Terrie went on to work for 49 years in a variety of service positions including Facilities Director, Program Manager and other positions for 25 years for the Department of Recreation; Clerk for Army Discharge Review Board; CNA and Physician's Assistance in various hospitals, nd doctor's offices; Caseworker for the Department of Human Resources; Driver for Metro Access in PG County, Adminstrative Assistances and Secretaries for various Clergy;  Mentor, Volunteer for various organizations; Cook for various Mens, women and Family shelters,  as well as 10 years as a Resident Counselor for the Housing Opportunities Commission for Montgomery County, most recently.

She has survived the death of both her parents at a very tender age; an abusive and loveless marriage and the death of four of her twelve siblings.  But, through it all, she returned to school to complete two degrees and graduate with honors while raising and caring for her two children without the benefit of any child support or government assistance.  Being a lover of people, and charity, through the years she has crocheted, cooked, baked and hand-delivered meals, clothing, blankets and even put up in hotels at her expense,  homeless and other less-fortunate persons in her community.  Also, as a lover of gardening, many neighbors, friends and family members and others have benefited from her green thumb.  She has spent her existence caring for others.

Although life has not been good to her and there have been many bumps in the road, she never gave up.  She held onto her faith in God and the belief that just around the bend there was a  better tomorrow!  The one thing that she has always dreamed of was one day retiring to a small country house where she could tend her garden and sit on her porch, rocking and crocheting and watching for her visiting grandchildren and the soon coming of her Lord and Savior!

Will you help Make her dream come true?  Every donation brings her one step closer to realizing her dream and helping a well-deserved. hard-working senior find the happiness that has alluded her, her whole life.  In this world so full of pain, heartache and disappointment, you can make a difference for one person.  Let Terrie be that person.
