  • Quick update

Sincere thanks to those who were kind enough to make a donation. This condition has completely turned my life upside down. All the little things we take for granted daily that I now have to make such an effort to complete, has not only been extremely upsetting but also heartbreaking. Going from someone who loved alwats being on the go, playing sports, zip lining and chatting it up for hours to being severely fatigued, cannot catch my breathe which makes talking/conversating with others even a challenge to barely being able to walk up a flight of stairs. I’m currently on several different medications that carry their own side effects that I have to deal with as well. Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension can only be treated to slow down the progression of damage to my heart as there is no cure. I’m thankful for my amazing friends for being there for me and helping me stay positive cause this whole situation has changed every aspect of my life.

About this fundraiser

https://giveahand.com/start_a_fundraiser/help-nicole-fight-againsNicole was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension in October of last year. Pulmonary Aterial hypertension (PAH) is a progressive and terminal disease. PAH is a condition where the arteries in the lungs narrow, which makes it harder for the heart to pump blood. Over time, PAH can cause the right ventricle of the heart to enlarge, which can lead to right-sided heart failure which she is already experiencing. This disease not only causes swelling of her feet/legs but has also caused extreme fatigue making everyday activities more challenging. She hasn’t been able to walk up a flight of steps without having to stop midway to catch her breathe. Shortness of breathe associated with chest tightness/pain is another symptom of this disease. She continues to have difficulty carrying on a conversation without having to stop to catch her breathe. She spent several days at UC Medical Center working with the pulmonary team to put together a plan for treatment so that her quality of life would hopefully improve. Treatment thus far has not lowered her numbers and her symptoms are still present. Due to her being in “active heart failure,” doctors have suggested that she file for disability as she is not capable of providing/working as she always has. I am asking anyone that can help to please do so in the hopes that this will provide her some relief until disability is reviewed/approved.  Donations will be used to assist her with making her mortgage payment, household utilities and medical care. Thank you in advance for helping my friend during this difficult time.
