Hello, my name is Alicia, and this is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to write.
I’m a single mother of two amazing daughters. Like many people, I’ve always tried to handle life’s challenges on my own, but our family has reached a point where we simply can’t do it without help.
For the past several years, I’ve been living with large uterine tumors that have continued to grow. One is about the size of a softball, and the other is nearly the size of a bowling ball. They cause constant pain, pressure, and discomfort that affect nearly every part of my daily life. Walking, getting dressed, sleeping, and even using the bathroom have become painful. One of the most difficult parts has been the emotional toll. Because my abdomen has become so enlarged, people often assume I’m pregnant, when in reality it’s caused by the tumors. It’s heartbreaking and embarrassing. My doctors have recommended treatment, but getting there hasn’t been easy.
In addition to my own health, my youngest daughter has serious medical conditions that require ongoing doctor appointments and care. Between my appointments and hers, dependable transportation isn’t a luxury for us, it’s a necessity. Right now, we are struggling without a reliable vehicle. Something as simple as getting to a doctor’s appointment, picking up prescriptions, or buying groceries has become incredibly difficult. Missing appointments isn’t an option when your family’s health depends on them. I receive SSI, and while I’m grateful for that assistance, it only covers our basic monthly expenses. After paying for housing, utilities, food, and everyday necessities, there simply isn’t enough left to save for a dependable vehicle or the medical expenses that continue to come with my condition.
We are asking for help to raise funds for both my medical needs and reliable transportation so that I can continue receiving treatment, ensure my daughter never miss the care she need, and provide a little stability for our family during this difficult season. I lost my mother several years ago, and I don’t have close family nearby to lean on. Asking for help has never been easy for me, but I’ve learned that sometimes strength means allowing others to help when you truly need it.
Whether you’re able to donate or simply share our fundraiser, every act of kindness makes a difference. Every dollar and every share brings us one step closer to getting the medical care we need and the reliable transportation that will help us get there.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for taking the time to read our story, for your prayers, your generosity, and your compassion. My daughters and I will never forget the kindness shown to our family.
