About this fundraiser

Over the past few years, our daughter Helen has faced immense mental health challenges. In November, after enduring severe bullying and battling deep depression, Helen attempted to take her life. By the grace of God, her attempt failed, and we are so incredibly grateful to still have her here with us, continuing her journey toward healing and hope.

Following a week-long stay at UNC and with the support of an amazing therapist, family, and the right medications, Helen has made tremendous strides forward. While her journey is far from over, we are committed to walking alongside her, every step of the way, through the victories and the struggles.

Helen is incredibly resilient, despite being dealt a difficult hand. With diagnoses of autism, OCD, anxiety disorder, ADHD, and depression, she has worked hard to regain her footing and is now attending outpatient therapy to support her healing. As a family, we are educating ourselves and working closely with her care team to ensure she has the tools she needs to thrive.

To further support Helen’s journey, we are exploring a life-changing resource: a service dog. A trained service dog could help Helen navigate her daily challenges by offering emotional support, grounding her during moments of anxiety, and providing companionship to foster her independence.

However, the cost of acquiring and training a service dog is substantial. Expenses include adoption fees, training, veterinary care, and more. This is where we need your help.

With your generosity, we can take the first steps toward securing the perfect service dog for Helen. Every dollar raised will go directly toward covering the costs of bringing this incredible resource into her life.

Thank you for taking the time to read Helen’s story. Your support—whether through a donation, sharing her story, or simply sending good thoughts our way—means the world to us. Together, we can help Helen continue her journey toward healing, connection, and hope.
