For the last two years my 55 year old son has been treated for stage 4 cancer in his jaw and mouth. He survived an initial surgery followed by a major bleed that nearly killed him. His surgeon sent him home on hospice but he refused to give up and left hospice so he could receive aggressive treatment. He has suffered through several rounds of chemo and radiation, multiple severe infections, and multiple hospitalizations. During the majority of this time, he has only been able to receive nourishment through a stomach tube. He has astonished his entire treatment team and has actually gotten stronger and gained weight back over time. He has maintained a positive outlook throughout. Very recently he received a diagnosis that the cancer has returned and appears to have spread to his tongue. He can not talk now but can still text. In a couple of days he will learn where else it may have spread. He receives Medicaid but has no income. God has blessed him with a partner who is a nurse and has supported him financially, emotionally, and been his sole caregiver while working full time. She has recently lost her job. There is currently no household income. She has funds to pay bills through December. Moving forward, monthly expenses for rent, utilities, phone, car insurance and gas costs are estimated at $2700. I am 80 and in poor health, living on a fixed income. I help financially as I can but am not able to support them. I live a two day drive from him. My son’s mother is in the same situation. With this Helping Hand we are all praying his partner will be able to remain his full time caregiver for whatever time he has left with fewer worries and less anxiety. Thanking God for healing and renewal. And thanking you for your prayers and financial assistance and words of encouragement.
