  • Heartfelt thank you and update

On behalf of Caitlin, we would like to thank everybody for their incredible generosity, support, and kind comments. She is beyond appreciative and cannot believe the support she has received. She is seeing all the love for her, Brandyn, and their house full of pets.

We are sorry this update is delayed. In full transparency, it has been a long couple of days. Brandyn's official time of death was 02/26/2026 at 8:33am. His body was kept alive in order to fulfill his wish of organ donation. Caitlin and family participated in his Honor Walk Thursday afternoon, escorting him to the operating room to fulfill his wish of organ donation.

Again, thank you very much for your continued support of Caitlin. She hopes that you will keep memories of him close to your heart. She also asks that you please send positive thoughts to the individuals who received the gifts of his organs. She is thankful that other's lives have been saved and their families are given the gifts of time. She hopes this will be an important part of Brandyn's legacy.

Included in this update is the photo of the "donate life" flag that was raised at VCU medical center in Brandyn's honor, to celebrate his gift of organ donation.

About this fundraiser

On Thursday February 19, Brandyn went to the Outer Banks Hospital because of an ongoing infection. Due to an an obstruction in his airway caused by the infection, they attempted to intubate him. In the process, he coded and the attempts to resuscitate him lasted 10 minutes. He was transported to Virginia Commonwealth University hospital in Richmond, Virginia for intensive care. Due to the lack of oxygen, the damage to his brain is irreversible. At this time, he has no neurological function and will not wake up.

Brandyn was a registered organ donor and he is currently being kept alive on a ventilator as they prepare him for organ donation. His gift of organ donation is a testament to the love he gave to others and the legacy he will leave behind.

Brandyn was a person who demonstrated his love to everyone around him in more ways than we can articulate. He would move heaven and earth to be there for everyone around him and his people were the center of his world and the foundation for everything he did. He cared deeply for his pets, his family, his friends, but especially his beloved wife, Caitlin. His world revolved around Caitlin; caring for her, providing stability, and supporting her in every way.

During this time, we are looking to support his wife, Caitlin. At this time, there is immediate need of funeral costs and final arrangements. Beyond that, Caitlin will need support with additional living expenses to sustain her during this time of grief as she figures out her future steps. We are surrounding Caitlin in love and aiding her in this process.

Brandyn was the Executive Chef at The Froggy Dog Restaurant in Avon, NC. He was an integral part of our Froggy family. He was our friend, family, and chef. If you’ve ever been on the receiving end of his love, you know how lucky we are to have had him in our lives.

Thank you for supporting Caitlin through this.
