    Update on Derrick 💛
He made it through surgery! 🙌 The doctor said, “He’s doing good — not great, but good.” Those words felt like a breath of hope. . The next 3–5 hours are still crucial, but right now, we’re holding on to this miracle.

He’s off the ventilator, breathing on his own, awake, alert, and able to move his legs! 🙏

God is so faithful. Thank you, Jesus, for hearing every prayer and wrapping him in Your mercy. And thank you to everyone who’s been praying with us — please keep them coming. 💛

About this fundraiser

Help Derrick Hines Fight for His Life

Our family is reaching out with heavy hearts to ask for your prayers, support, and generosity as Derrick Hines faces the fight of his life.  At just 38 years old, he suffered his first abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) dissection that required repair. At age 42 he suffered a heart attack which changed the course of his life, and since then he has continued to face one health battle after another with incredible strength.
Fast forward to March 2024, at only 47 years old he was diagnosed with Heart Failure and a partially dissected abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) that now measures 6.7cm.

In the past few months alone, Derrick has been hospitalized six times at Baylor Scott & White Heart Hospital in Plano, TX. He has endured the placement of two pacemaker/defibrillators—both of which his body rejected and had to be removed. Most recently, he went into kidney failure. After being transferred to UMC and then to Baylor Scott & White, surgeons were unable to save his kidney.
Now, Derrick is at a crossroads. His vascular surgeon believes it is the optimal time to repair his AAA. The surgery is expected to last about six hours, with at least a week of recovery in the hospital. While this is a major life threatening surgery, it is also a life-saving step: repairing the aneurysm will extend Derrick’s life expectancy and give him the chance to be placed on the heart transplant list—his only hope for a longer future.
Derrick is a son, brother, father, and friend who has always faced challenges with quiet strength. But this journey has taken an incredible toll on him and our family, emotionally and financially. We are asking for help to cover the costs of:
• Gas & travel expenses to and from the hospital
• Hotel stays during his long recovery in Plano
• Meals while away from home
• Mounting medical bills not fully covered by insurance
Every donation, no matter the size, will make a difference and help lift the weight of financial stress so Derrick can focus on healing. If you are unable to give, please consider sharing this fundraiser and keeping Derrick in your prayers.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for standing with us. ❤️
