In Loving Memory of Ernesto Ortega Palacios: Support for his Beloved Family

Last Thursday our world was shattered by the tragic news of Ernesto's passing.  Ernesto was a radiant soul. His love and kindness, sweet spirit and big smile touched everyone who knew him, and his absence leaves a void that can never be filled. 

Ernesto leaves behind Mother Araceli, Father Felipe, Sisters Monserrat, Devani, and a large extended family.  All of which were devoted to Ernesto.  Araceli and  Felipe are the heart of the family- loving nurturing parents, joyful and dedicated to the needs of each of their children.  They prided themselves in creating a life of a  loving home filled with faith, laughter and care. 

Ortega Palacios Family's statement:

Teto was very beautiful and sweet to all of us, he was a very special child.  He was a child with downs syndrome and had heart issues since birth.  He had seven open heart surgeries, some of them were valve changes and pacemakers.  The most serious intervention was the catheterization which was to repair his valve that did not work. It only worked for one week and it closed again, and this was the cause of his death.  He had retained a lot of fluid in his heart, lungs and liver and his kidneys were no longer working.

We thank all of his teachers, assistants, therapists and classmates from over the years.   We thank the doctors and Oakland Children’s hospital who always had their door open and never denied him medical help.

El jueves pasado nuestro mundo quedó destrozado por la trágica noticia del fallecimiento de Ernesto.  Ernesto era un alma radiante. Su amor y bondad, su dulce espíritu y su gran sonrisa conmovieron a todos los que lo conocieron, y su ausencia deja un vacío que nunca podrá llenarse. 

Ernesto deja atrás a la Madre Araceli, al Padre Felipe, a las Hermanas Monserrat, a Devani y a una gran familia extendida.  Todos ellos dedicados a Ernesto.  Araceli y Felipe son el corazón de unos padres cariñosos y cariñosos, alegres y dedicados a las necesidades de cada uno de sus hijos.  Se enorgullecían de crear una vida de hogar lleno de amor, llena de fe, risas y atención. 

Declaración de la familia Ortega Palacios:
Teto era muy hermoso y dulce con todos nosotros, era un niño muy especial.  Era un niño con síndrome de Down y tenía problemas cardíacos desde que nació.  Tuvo siete cirugías a corazón abierto, algunas de ellas fueron cambios de válvulas y marcapasos.  La intervención más grave fue el cateterismo que consistía en reparar su válvula que no funcionaba. Sólo funcionó una semana y volvió a cerrar, y esta fue la causa de su muerte.  Había retenido mucho líquido en el corazón, los pulmones y el hígado y sus riñones ya no funcionaban.

Agradecemos a todos sus maestros, asistentes, terapeutas y compañeros de clase a lo largo de los años.   Agradecemos a los médicos y al hospital infantil de Oakland que siempre tuvieron la puerta abierta y nunca le negaron ayuda médica.
