We are the proud parents of an amazing, strong, and bright boy named Jordan. Jordan is 11 years old and has never been able to walk —independently— because he was born with a rare condition called arthrogryposis multiplex congenita (AMC). This condition causes stiffness and limited movement in his joints, making it impossible for him to stand or walk on his own.
Despite everything he’s faced, Jordan is full of life, laughter, and dreams. He loves hanging out with his friends, swimming, whooping butt in UNO and has the biggest heart. He’s watched other kids run and play and has always wished he could join them instead of watching from the sidelines.
After years of searching and eventually just accepting that it was not a possibility we finally have an answer: This year at the AMC conference we found out there is a way to help Jordan walk. Dr. Feldman, a world-renowned specialist in Florida, believes he can perform the complex surgery that Jordan needs to straighten his legs and redirect his hips and give him the chance to take to not only stand up but walk realistically. This surgery, along with intensive physical therapy, could change his entire future — giving him more independence, confidence, and the freedom every child deserves.
But we can’t do this alone. The cost of obtaining the health insurance that works with Dr.Feldman and his team, travel to Florida, lodging for 2-3 months following his surgery, Physical therapy and rehabilitation multiple times a day after surgery that follow are far more than we can afford on our own. Insurance only covers a portion, and the rest must come out of pocket.
