  • Complication

Fevers have continued and imaging this morning shows she has developed a pleural effusion. She will have to have the fluid drained off the area around her lung so she will be having a procedure today.

About this fundraiser

Last month Katani and her brother got sick at the same time.  We assumed it was the flu.  He got better in a couple of days and she got rapidly worse.  We rushed her to the hospital when she said she had pain, and she had a ruptured appendix, sepsis, and kidney injury.  She spent 24 days in the hospital, some of it in intensive care.  She had 5 drains, multiple abscesses, and complications with her ovaries, intestinal loops, lung, and other organs.  She finally rallied and it seemed she was headed the right direction.  She was let out a week ago on oral antibiotics and a plan to come back for surgery when the infection was calmed down and her body had a chance to show if there were complications brewing.  Today, seven days later, she began to hurt again, developed a fever, and by the time she was back at the hospital she is in very bad shape again.  She is being admitted again.

We live 40 miles from the hospital.  I work 32 miles from the hospital.  We have the other kids at home needing to go to school and manage the farm while we are ping pong ball at the hospital.  I go to the hospital with her, then I go do a 12 or 14 hour night shift and Kyle is at the hospital with her.  When I return, he goes to the farm to bring the food and supplies the other kids need and make sure all is well there, feeding animals etc. He returns and takes me to work after that.   I work 48-52 hours a week.  We are trying to get through this struggle successfully.  But the bills from added expenses right now are causing crisis.  The gas to make all these trips, the extra meals and supplies while not at home, and parking fees at the hospital which does not validate any more.   We have a tight budget to begin with and we have exhausted every resource we can at this point. I hate to ask for help.  I really hate asking for help.  But if anyone has a small ability that they could help us in anyway, it would be put to the best usage in this continuing effort to fight her health crisis.

I appreciate all good thoughts and prayers at this time, our girl is not doing well at all and we are hanging by a thread emotionally and financially right now.
