Penny has a smile that is simply contagious. She always carries one on her face, one in her pocket just for you, if you’re having a bad day. Words of encouragement are always brought with it. Penny is a Montessori teacher that has spread her loving smile into lots of our children futures. 
Penny also is a mother to four girls, fourteen grandchildren as well as my best friend for more than 30 years. She has so loving stood beside me on good and bad days. Always seeming to bring back a smile I thought I had lost. 
Penny has been diagnosed with nonalcoholic cirrhosis and desperately needs our help to keep her smiling and laughing. As she needs to undergo a liver transplant, with the nearest hospital being four hours from our home. She will also require extensive stays for many weeks. The surgery alone is extremely expensive as she currently doesn’t have any medical insurance. We are  working with social workers at MUSC to find out what may be available to off set these cost. Until then we are left waiting. Her after care will also something that will have to be considered as this is a life changing surgery that will require for her to take anti-rejection medication. Please find it in your heart to keep her smiling. And we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
