About this fundraiser

Ulster Rapid Response (URR) is organizing to help support legal funds for several people who are fighting for their release and need legal support.

URR volunteers have been asked to raise support for three people being detained. This fundraiser focuses on these three individuals who have ties to Ulster County and are being detained at  Batavia.

All three people have been held for months without access to proper legal representation due to a lack of funds, and they need support to fight for their release.

Two of the people are asylum seekers, one whose safety was being threatened as a member of the LGBTQ community and another who was targeted by gang violence in his country of origin and has a baby he is trying to return home to.

The third person in need of support is a Cuban citizen who may be eligible for special relief but needs funds to file  Freedom of Information requests to support his case and has been detained for over seven months.

Any additional funds raised will be used to support legal fees, commissary funds ( phone calls, soap, toothbrush, snacks etc.)and other expenses for other detainees.

Please share widely and help fight alongside our immigrant neighbors for their freedom!
