Hello, 

     My name is Paul Gullo. I am an inventor. I have been in manufacturing for about 40 years. I am constantly thinking of new Inventions. I don’t hold any patents. I am hoping that this idea will be the 1st. Before I explain the invention I would like to say that I do not want to mandate any alternatives to carrying firearms. My intention is to offer a safer carrying experience for the person carrying the firearm and to make the immediate area of the person carrying the firearm safer in the event of an N.D. ( negligent discharge ) . 
 

    The name of my invention is 1st Round Blank. The name actually describes a process that utilizes my invention. My invention is a blank cartridge ( A.K.A. round ) that has enough power to cycle the action of semiautomatic firearms. Theoretically if this cartridge is carried by concealed carry firearm enthusiasts it will make the firearm safer. Why, you say. Well, because the 1st round that is chambered in the firearm is a blank cartridge and has no projectile that will come out of the barrel upon the 1st trigger pull. This simple fact means that in the event of an N.D. or negligent discharge meaning if someone accidentally pulls the trigger and the gun discharges the possibility of a life threatening injury is greatly reduced to almost zero fatal incidents.

     The process of carrying a concealed semiautomatic pistol will be slightly different when my invention is incorporated. The way the concealed carry experience will change is this. Some people choose to carry a pistol with a round in the chamber and some people choose to not carry with one in the chamber. Well, if you use my invention then the 1st round will be a chambered blank round capable of cycling the action of the firearm after the trigger is pulled. This means that when the trigger is pulled and there is a report or bang heard only the holder of the firearm with the 1st Round Blank cartridge knows that the bang was a blank round. 

   In the event of a N.D. or negligent discharge the vast majority of which are a single round discharge from all kinds of things such as children playing with loaded firearms , mishandling of firearms, carrying loaded firearm, etc. . My invention will greatly reduce the probability of injury or death to the person or people in the general vicinity of the negligent discharge because there is no projectile that is shot out the barrel of the gun to create a wound. A negligent discharge is almost always one single round discharged that may or may not create a wound, sometimes unfortunately a fatal wound. So, if the 1st round is a blank round in there is a N.D. or negligent discharge all you will hear is a loud report or bang and no bullet will come out of the gun and create injuries. 

    I have been in contact with a company named Davison ( Davison.com ). They have done a patent search and they believe that the idea is patentable. Davison has said that their cost for creating a prototype , developing a package, and marketing the idea to multiple big box stores and websites is $16,000 . I have made my goal $250,000 dollars for startup costs and machine tool purchases for the business to create the prototypes of multiple calibers of the 1st Round Blank invention.
