About this fundraiser

Ms. Dunn was a dedicated advocate for universal access to quality education. As a reading specialist, she developed a dyslexia program implemented in public schools, championed for at-risk students—including those facing learning challenges—and provided complementary tutoring to families.

Her commitment extended beyond her professional work as she engaged actively with community advocacy groups, managed a Habitat for Humanity ReStore, and contributed to her church. Upon retirement, Ms. Dunn sustained her dedication to education by teaching GED classes to incarcerated individuals, offering remedial reading instruction at community colleges, and guiding future educators at the university level.

In 2023, Ms. Dunn was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Dementia and has been under the devoted care of her daughter and grandchildren. As she approaches the end of her life's journey, many have expressed a desire to offer assistance. Due to significant out-of-pocket medical expenses incurred by her family, contributions to her memorial fund are deeply appreciated. These funds will cover her final arrangements, with any excess being donated to initiatives supporting at-risk students.
