Why VERC Is Raising Funds for Minneapolis — like many urban communities — is currently facing a convergence of challenges that directly affect children, families, and vulnerable residents:
1. Schools & Youth Need Enhanced Support Services Many Minneapolis schools are experiencing: Increased behavioral health needs Gaps in school-based counseling and developmental screenings Strain on existing support staff VERC is raising funds to partner with local schools to provide on-site and virtual counseling, developmental support, and family engagement programs that reduce barriers to care and strengthen academic success.
2. Health Equity & Access Challenges Communities in Minneapolis — especially those with historically underfunded resources — struggle with: Limited access to bilingual health services Care deserts for mental health, preventive care, and chronic disease management Fundraising will expand VERC’s telehealth and community health navigation services, ensuring families can connect with culturally competent care when they need it.
3. Safety Net Expansion for Families in Crisis Economic instability, housing stress, and pandemic-era aftereffects continue to impact family well-being. Funds will support: Crisis response outreach Case management for families facing instability Coordinated care teams that bridge health, education, and social support systems
